When the students of the EIT ICT Labs Master School in Paris Janina Fagerlund, Carla Griggio, Patrick Jonell, German Leiva and Hanna Schneider took part, early this year, in the regional challenge of the Student Entrepreneurship Cluster Paris-Saclay, they did not imagine that this would lead them far beyond in making a dream come true.
The team then won the national competition, on May 2013, among 17 other French projects teams. Consequently they went to European level to compete with 21 junior enterprises from 14 different countries at the Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Challenge. Their JUKEBOSS application won again! It was selected as the best young enterprise of the year and won 5.000 € award.
What is JUKEBOSS about? It is not just about music. Participants of public or private events download the application on their mobile devices. They choose from a list of available songs. An interface displays the most popular music track to the disc-jockey or animator, enabling him to meet the audience’s musical wishes for more successful events or private parties. JUKEBOSS is also suitable for radios. The students work continuously on its improvement and the application will soon be automated.
EIT ICT Labs Master School aims to bring entrepreneurial spirit into the studies in the field of information and communication technologies and gives the necessary skills to the students to create their own companies. Italy, through the University of Trento, is also part of this programme that involves more than19 Universities all over Europe.
